Singing is the hardest one for me. I’ve had to learn to sing in a whole new way. No more belting. Still, some days I just physically cannot sing. It’s very frustrating to accept
Fellow ME/CFSer 👋 if you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up as a kid, you would have heard me say: “a singer.” But then I got sick and making it to all my choir practices and voice lessons was too much for me. Although singing and breathing from your diaphragm is ideal, it’s also tiring!
I’ve found some videos where people sing harmonies and you get to sing-along to the melody, so at least I have the feeling of a singing in a choir for a few minutes lol
My limitations come from having to exist as a level 2 autistic person with ADHD 😬 while undiagnosed for 34 years. So the goal posts were wrong. The inability to meet (unknowingly) impossible expectations always got to me and i didn’t understand why there were detrimental effects from living a ‘normal’ life. A lot of that has come out in my writing recently. Album is pending :)
…I prefer to follow artists with rawness. I would choose that every time over perfection or really clean or polished art. I think it’s comforting to connect to someone who is struggling and willing to share - even if only over the interwebs or through their art - cause we are all struggling in some way
Some days it feels like more limitation than creativity (my substack languishes because I can’t often word enough). I still believe our voices, our creativity matters and enriches the world.

It is sooo frustrating! I can’t belt either and my higher head voice is near gone…

Oh wow, that must have been so difficult having AuDHD and not knowing! I look forward to hearing your album!
Beautiful song and performance. Love your staccato "Mama" and the whole instrumentation.
Aw thank you so much!

I so hear you! I believe our creativity is vital for this world. Our perspectives matter.
I empathise with you: I believe many of us are challenged by various conditions, physical, mental and emotional.
Absolutely!
