I loved this! And your paintings! 😍 you’re so creative. 🩷 I’ve struggled with my voice—i always got the ick from hearing myself back on a video or something. When I started Substack I decided do audio recordings of my posts and I’ve been really enjoying it and people have been really encouraging and supportive! So now I’m trying to see my voice in a different light! It’s quite a journey. I love singing but I definitely need voice lessons. I appreciated this article because it was another affirmation of like “just do it!” 🙏💚

Ooh I know the voice struggles all too well. I’m so glad you’re building trust with your voice now 🥰

I recently saw *somewhere* a statement that we need ‘bad’ art, because art is deeply human. I love the idea of this. I often compare the arts to sport - we don’t tell people they can’t kick or bounce a ball around unless they are going to be a professional athlete, but that is often the message we get about the arts. So here’s to your art, Madelleine. Yesterday I made a hand bound book. It is not perfect, but I gifted it to a friend as it is useable and was made with love. I plan to go on making books. I love dabbling.

Oh I love that you are making books and gifting them! And all sportsmen have coaches and trainers and what-not. It’s such a weird thing this idea of natural talent when it comes to the arts.
